A whole human life is just a heartbeat here in Heaven

Greetings~

“A whole human life is just a heartbeat here in Heaven. Then we'll all be together forever.” – Chris Nielsen What Dreams May Come.

I have been pondering whether or not to write a little something about Robin Williams, I was swaying to the side of not, however this is a blog about mental health essentially.

Mr. Williams brought joy! From his stand up work, our beloved Mork (yes I did have the suspenders), Patch Adams, Good Morning Vietnam, Awakenings(one of my personal favorites), and Mrs. Doubtfire. His list of credits is actually rather astounding. He took us for a Night in the Museum and to Jumanji. He will never be forgotten and my heart goes out to his family and friends.

“Thank you for every kindness. Thank you for our children. For the first time I saw them. Thank you for being someone I was always proud to be with. For your guts, for your sweetness. For how you always looked, for how I always wanted to touch you. God, you were my life. I apologize for every time I ever failed you. Especially this one...” Chris Nielsen What Dreams May Come.

Depression can strike any one. Young or old, it knows no race nor religion. You can be surrounded by people who love you and have a whole lot of money and still get swallowed into the deep sadness. Depression comes in many forms, from chronic, seasonal, postpartum…it takes many shapes.

Symptoms of Depression

  • Feelings of sadness, emptiness or unhappiness
  • Angry outbursts, irritability or frustration, even over small matters
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in normal activities, such as sex
  • Sleep disturbances, including insomnia or sleeping too much
  • Tiredness and lack of energy, so that even small tasks take extra effort
  • Changes in appetite — often reduced appetite and weight loss, but increased cravings for food and weight gain in some people
  • Anxiety, agitation or restlessness — for example, excessive worrying, pacing, hand-wringing or an inability to sit still
  • Slowed thinking, speaking or body movements
  • Feelings of worthlessness or guilt, fixating on past failures or blaming yourself for things that are not your responsibility
  • Trouble thinking, concentrating, making decisions and remembering things
  • Frequent thoughts of death, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts or suicide
  • Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches (Mayo Clinic, 2014).
You do an eclectic celebration of the dance! You do Fosse, Fosse, Fosse! You do Martha Graham, Martha Graham, Martha Graham! Or Twyla, Twyla, Twyla! Or Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd! Or Madonna, Madonna, Madonna!... but you keep it all inside.” –Armand The Birdcage.
    If You Have Suicidal Thoughts
“If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, get help right away. Here are some steps you can take:

  • Reach out to a close friend or loved one.
  • Contact a minister, a spiritual leader or someone in your faith community.
  • Call a suicide hotline number — in the United States, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (800-273-8255) to reach a trained counselor. Use that same number and press 1 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line.
  • Make an appointment with your doctor, mental health provider or other health care provider.

If you think you may hurt yourself or attempt suicide, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately.

If you have a loved one who is in danger of committing suicide or has made a suicide attempt, make sure someone stays with that person. Call 911 or your local emergency number immediately. Or, if you think you can do so safely, take the person to the nearest hospital emergency room” (Mayo Clinic, 2014).

The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone, reach out. Don’t give up hope.

But if there's love, dear... those are the ties that bind, and you'll have a family in your heart, forever. All my love to you, poppet, you're going to be all right... bye-bye.” –Mrs. Doubtfire

You will be missed!

Love and Light! Signing off…Nanu-Nanu! Shazbot! K.O.
